Regional Digitisation and the Collection and Stories Project

Regional Digitisation and the Collection and Stories Project In 2018 Museum and Galleries of NSW partnered with Create Infrastructure NSW and seven LGAs to develop a prototype website to profile and promote regional-based museums, galleries, Aboriginal cultural centres and keeping place collections. Called Collections and Stories, the prototype was developed to inform the planning and costing of a whole-of-sector approach to fund and digitise cultural collections that are held regionally throughout NSW.

It is envisaged that the roll-out of a regional digitisation program would establish regional hubs with staff, equipment and space to undertake the work of documenting, assessing and digitising locally-held collections. This includes collections managed by both paid and volunteer organisations. To hear more about regional digitisation and see the Collections and Stories prototype you are invited to attend a presentation to be given by M&G NSW’s Collections and Stories Project Manager, Kate Gahan, at the William Dawes Room, Merimbula RSL Club,
