MERIMBULA TIMELINE

The old school room houses a range of displays depicting a timeline of Merimbula, Pambula & surrounding regions beginning with Indigenous history through early European settlement, farming, the establishment of manufacturing with the first flour mill, the maizena plant & bacon factory, mining, fishing and oyster farming.
Shipping played an important role in the development of Merimbula and neighboring coastal towns from the 1850s and is represented in several displays. Early health services, the introduction of aviation, local dining and tourism are also featured in the timeline. The display contents are changed periodically, so keep checking in to see what’s new.
